Dress to Look Your Best

As we reach maturity we realise that great clothes are beautifully made and full of classic style and we learn to love shapes that flatter and slim. Work with your body not against it and never purchase anything just because it is the latest trend. Philosophy Australia's Victorian Sales Manager Ines Evans has a wealth of style knowledge and fashion insights. Seemingly effortlessly stylish every day Ines shares some of her secrets to looking good.

Enduring clothes tend to be classics with a twist. Live by one simple rule: everything you own should make you feel good!

Dress your best every day. Prepare your outfit in advance to be sure that everything you will need to complete the picture is clean and ready to wear. If your outfit has to take you day to night don't overdress in the morning but plan a simple combination with a clever change of accessories for after-dark impact. Pay attention to the details - an uneven hemline, run down shoes or untidy hair will let even the most perfect outfit down.

Look after your clothes. Hang well loved garments in the sunshine for a few hours or air them overnight to let them breathe. Always use the right cleaning fluids, wool wash for delicates is a must. Soaking saves wear and tear but be careful not to leave clothes too long - overnight is enough, and never leave wool to soak at all. Gently roll delicates in a clean dry towel to remove excess water and dry them flat in a cool dry place. Remember that washing machines were not designed to care for beaded embellishments so hand washing is essential, when entrusting delicate items to the machine do so in a garment bag to prevent twisting and tangling.

Don't despair if your favourite clothes meet with an accident, attend to stains quickly by hand to prevent them fixing. Cover fruit and wine stains with salt and you will see the colour leave the garment. Cloudy ammonia and water can remove lipstick stains while Wet Ones and facial wipes can remove stains from deodorant. Neat lemon juice is a clever tip to remove ink stains, add bicarbonate of soda to the juice and make a paste to remove chocolate stains.
