A chat with Ali Lennard, our Director + Designer about our Sprinkling Kindness Project collab
This little project began as a way of creating some good, in what has been a rather unsettling year, and personally I’m loving every moment of it.
Working collaboratively with some amazing women has been such a highlight, and I’m excited to showcase the perfect wardrobe pieces over the coming months.
We launched last month with a White Tee in collaboration with Kirsten from Bettyquette. Thank you for the support, if you purchased one, and to those that got in contact to give praise to the concept and share their delight on receiving the garment. Donations have been made to the McGrath foundation, which was Kirsten's charity of choice.
Now, I am pleased to launch the next Sprinkling Kindness Project collab piece.
As these styles will only be offered in limited numbers, they are also an investment towards exclusivity in your own wardrobe and will cover all your bases if you purchase across the collection as it evolves. A feel good purchase, that earns its keep!
Meet Bev from Iris May Style
I was lucky enough to meet Bev many years ago, and both being blonde, bubbly and British, we instantly hit it off. You may know her as Iris May Style, which is her social handle, named for her dear and stylish Mum.
Family, is very much at the heart of who Bev is, and her feed is full of beautiful sentiments of love towards her daughter Beckie and her husband Jonny. Congratulations are due to Beckie and her new fiancé Lachlan, and I for one am excited to see how Bev will dress for the big day. Her recent outfits for just the dress shopping alone have set the bar high!
As you’ll see from her interview responses below, Bev wanted a wrap blouse with a feeling of luxury as her item of choice, and I’ve loved making that idea a reality for her. We discussed all the details and nuances via several Facetime calls and then my team and I got started on the process.
Having a background in Bridalwear, Bev knows her fabrics, and therefore we chose from only the best qualities. The luxurious 100% linen fabric she selected is impeccable, and additionally supported Martin & Savage, another Australian family owned business with its purchase.
The Bev blouse is available in Black and Soft White and is a versatile style which can be dressed up or down, worn on or off the shoulder and has that little bit of “je ne sais quoi” you’d expect from a lady who describes her style as "classic with an edge".
The Bev Wrap Blouse will be available exclusively on the Philosophy Australia online shop from 10am Friday 20th November, and is $179. For every blouse purchased, a donation of $20 will be given to Bev’s charity of choice, the Miracle Babies Foundation.

How would you describe yourself?
First and foremost, I’m a Mumma. My daughter Beckie is my greatest achievement in life, nothing else compares for me. Beckie is 28 and Mumma is still the first ‘title’ that comes into my mind when I’m asked this question.
I would describe myself as fiercely protective of my family and friends. I would also say I’m a bit shy (I have major anxiety in group social situations) which shocks everyone, even people that know me well. I’m also a homebody. My home is my sanctuary and I rarely accept invitations to events, it’s just not me.
I’m originally from England, and emigrated to Australia in 2011 with my gorgeous little family and none of us have ever looked back.
One last thing I’m OBSESSED with skincare and makeup. Oh, and I also refuse to carry a handbag that’s not leather!
How would you describe your style?
Classic, with a touch of edgy.
What styles are you drawn to?
Timeless, classic pieces with a subtle point of difference.
Nothing pleases me more, than wearing great fitting denim with a fab white V neck tee (Bev purchased and loves the Kirsten Tee!) and a well-cut blazer ... oh and heels, love my heels! Depending on how I feel, I might add a pair of statement earrings, or a neckerchief. Simplicity is key.
Fabrics are SO important to me; they dictate how I shop. I adore linen, cotton and silk dupion. I’m also a dress girl, I adore a good wrap dress, or a shirt style dress. Sleeves are crucial, gone are the days when I buy sleeveless. I also love sleeves that offer a point of difference to an outfit, especially if they make a statement.
Love pastels and muted tones. Pastel blue would be my top pick, but pastel pink comes a very close second. Third place would light grey ... or maybe I should say black, because the English girl in me still loves an all black ensemble.
Stripes or Polka dot - love them both equally!
Do you feel your lifestyle defines your style, or the other way around?
In a way, yes. I’ve worked in the fashion industry on and off for most of my life. My first job was as a fashion wholesale model - I loved it! As well as Iris May Style, I also work part time for the Country Road Group. I do however have a designated section of my wardrobe that is purely on brand workwear. I NEVER mix the two, but if its brand new I might wear it out for dinner first.
How has your style evolved?
As an 8 year old at Junior School, I LOVED fashion. My parents thankfully encouraged me to explore fashion and clothing from a very early age - always supporting me without ridicule. This allowed me to find, and keep tweaking over the years, my own unique style personality.
Today I rarely try things on in shops and hardly ever take things back. I know my pear shape bod well, I’m a confident dresser that always has a failsafe backup outfit in my mind (reserved for those moments when I’m struggling to get out of the door). The ‘edgy’ element of my style personality still allows me to embrace a new trend (hello drop crotch pant obsession) and I NEVER allow my age to determine what I can wear - as long as I feel stylish, I walk out the door with confidence.
Whose style do you admire?
I get most of my inspiration from every day women, those that ooze style and confidence.
What brands or stores do you favour?
Bohemian Traders, and I tend to shop Country Road, Witchery and DJ’s with my staff discount.
What season do you prefer dressing for?
Summer - my love of linen and cotton push me heavily in this direction.
What are your deciding factors when considering a purchase?
Longevity. I tend to steer clear of bold colour and prints instead opting for classic pieces that will get a huge workout and earn their keep!
What garment have you always struggled to style, or veered away from?
Body con dresses - no explanation needed!
What are your favourite style tips?
Only invest in styles that compliment your bod and make you feel fabulous. Don’t purchase just because it’s the latest trend. Instead take a snippet of a trend and adapt it. Build your wardrobe around a complementary colour palette, as this makes mixing and matching so much easier.
What piece would you like Philosophy to create for you as your signature style?
A luxury wrap blouse please, and thank you!
I’m a curvy girl with a bust that loves a V neck. I also like to accentuate my ever-decreasing waistline and skim over my little Mumma tum - I find fab sleeve detail is a great distraction!
What Charity would you like to donate proceeds to, and why?
As Beckie was born at 28 weeks I would really like to support the Miracle Babies Foundation
We love a quote, what’s your style philosophy?
Style is something we all have inside of us ... we just need to find where it’s hiding and have the confidence to embrace it!
Where can we find you on your socials?
